Chernivtsi IT Cluster opinion on the importance of maintaining the independence of anti-corruption bodies of Ukraine
The Public Union "Chernivtsi IT Cluster", which unites the leading IT companies of the region, closely monitors the processes that affect the state of the legal system in Ukraine. In this context, we cannot remain aloof from the public discussion surrounding the adopted Law of Ukraine No. 4555-IX.
Understanding the complexity of decisions in wartime, at the same time we share the concern of part of the public and the business community about the potential weakening of the independence of key anti-corruption institutions - NABU and SAPO. It is their autonomy that has been one of the important achievements of the reforms of the last decade and remains a necessary condition for maintaining the trust of Ukrainian society and international partners.
Anti-corruption infrastructure is not only about the fight against corruption. This is the basis of trust in the state, a prerequisite for the stability necessary for the sustainable development of the economy, including the technology sector. For IT companies operating in global markets, transparency and predictability of decisions, the rule of law and the independence of institutions are critically important factors.
In addition, the independence of NABU and SAPO was one of the conditions for obtaining the status of a candidate for EU accession and remains a key reference point on this path. Any steps that may call into question the transparency and legality of decisions affect not only Ukraine's reputation, but also the prospects for further European integration, financial support and investment attractiveness.
We are convinced that decisions of this scale should be made in compliance with democratic procedures, openly, taking into account the opinions of the expert community and civil society. This allows us to maintain trust, strengthen statehood and contribute to the development of the country.
Chernivtsi IT Cluster remains committed to the principles of the rule of law and support for reforms that strengthen Ukraine's ability to confidently move towards the EU.
